Michelle Efendi: I was refused entry at City of Boston Hall. Not only that, I was back against the wall by Sgt. Cheevers. His intimidation led me to have a panic attack. I was there to testify for Boston City Councilor At-Large Erin Murphy’s Public Health Committee Hearing which was co-chaired by Boston City Councilor Frank Baker. However, because Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭 instructed the Boston Police to break the law, and because they complied, my testimony was not able to be added to the official record. I was victimized repeatedly. https://www.facebook.com/EfendiMichelle/videos/4771976712898735

Sergeant Joseph Cheevers (the really tall police officer) along with other officers and security supervisor Stephen / Steven were demonstrably discriminating against members of the public on Thursday, Feb 24th. First, they were preventing certain people from coming into the building in the foyer, while allowing others to walk in without masks. Later, they were blocking access to the chambers where the hearing was happening on the 5th floor. Sgt. Cheevers and his willfully-ignorant entourage blocked a Boston mother of 2 who signed up to testify for allegedly not wearing a face covering, though she did put a scarf over her face, which sufficed for other members of the public who got into the chamber. She also put a mask on earlier after being held up in the foyer for several hours to be able to come up to the 5th floor. Sgt. Cheevers also blocked another member of the public from coming into the chamber though she was willing to walk in with a scarf over her face. When challenged on the legal basis of his conduct, he said that she could not walk into the meeting because she was not giving a testimony. She informed him that she did not need to be giving testimony to witness any public hearing open to general public, which he ignored and continued to physically block the entrance. Just like he ignored the fact that there were multiple people inside the chamber including Councilor Flaherty who was not wearing a mask at all, and others that didn’t wear it for extended periods of time inside the chamber (rightfully so!). When pressured for an answer, he briefly passed the ball to the security supervisor who would allegedly check on whether member of the public should be allowed in if she wasn’t giving a testimony - of course it turned into an empty gesture to stall till the meeting was nearly over.
This was the first in-person opportunity for the general public to air their grievances regarding Mayor Wu’s unlawful & unconstitutional medical mandates, including the #BTogether initiative. Wu’s office is currently litigating the matter on multiple fronts and the fact that some of the very people who have been affected the most including people who don’t wear masks and will not take a gene-editing jab were excluded from this public hearing speaks volumes about the state of total disarray of our so-called democratic process in Maskachusetts.

Email sent from a member of the public prior to the hearing:
Hello,
I'm planning to attend today's public meeting @ 2PM at the Cityhall and noticed the following message on the bottom of the page "NOTICE – FACE MASKS REQUIRED: Staff and visitors must wear a face covering at all times in this building." at https://www.boston.gov/public-notices/15808461. Please correct this information ASAP as a lot of people who would like to participate in CityHall’s pubic meetings are the very people who don't wear masks and who've been affected the most by the discriminatory, unjustified and unlawful policies out of touch with both laws and science. I'm one of these people and I speak for hundreds of people I personally know who have been harassed and ostracized by bad policies related to medical mandates.
Massachusetts Public Accommodation law is an actual law, unlike the mandates and as public officials you need to uphold that standard to have trust in the community https://www.mass.gov/service-details/public-accommodation-civil-rights-protections
Governor's order even back in 2020 clearly stated that people who are unable to wear a mask do not have to (page 3, paragraph 2) and neither do they have to present documents verifying their conditions - please send appropriate communication to all CityHall employees and staff so people don’t have to waste their precious time & energy trying to educate CityHall employees. https://www.mass.gov/doc/covid-19-order-55/download
It’s also abundantly clear that few people at the CityHall or State House are actually concerned about or fearful of the virus. Those who are and who still think masks make any positive difference are free to wear them. Meanwhile, doctors are finally speaking up on the actual harms of wearing masks and I hope CityHall is paying attention
and incorporates this information in its ADVISORY verbiage whether through internal communications and / or statements on its website.
I’m happy to see mask-free faces in the photos and videos coming out of the CityHall etc and am requesting that CityHall administration makes appropriate changes to update all verbiage on its website as it relates to public access and stops allowing any discrimination and segregation based on people’s medical choices including masking, testing, and Covid-19 liability-free product jabbing.
City Council Kendra Lara @
Gov. Baker and Lt. Governor Polito
City Council Ed Flynn
City Council Michael Flaherty
Lovely young lady receiving the award actually removes her mask and THEN hugs the city councilor. Neither one is obviously concerned about getting sick and neither one was asked to ”wear a face covering at all times in this building”
#WeThePeopleOfMA will not back down against discrimination and segregation, broken laws and Constitutional rights, and violation of our basic human rights to bodily autonomy. Boston City Council needs to hold another PUBLIC hearing with ample notice for the public to attend without ANY restrictions from accessing the tax-payer paid for Boston CityHall and with the majority of City Council members in attendance throughout the meeting.
Thank You for calling the Feb 24th meeting to Councilors Murphy & Baker. Since we barely scratched the surface at the Feb 24th meeting, we will need another public meeting on the subject soon.
We all need to reach out to all City Councilors requesting another public hearing as well as expressing our opinions on the proposed ordinance by Mayor Wu, “which is a FLAGRANT attempt to silence dissident voices”.
