“I have a friend who lives in a condo in Natick mall and this is what she just wrote to me If anyone interested in voicing their opposition, please e-mail me directly at phoenixAD21@protonmail.com.
We recently found out that Neiman Marcus store is being converted to Bio safety lab 2 which handles pathogens (salmonella, hiv, lyme, ecoli and whole bunch I can't pronounce), does animal testing, incinerates remains (smoke and smell) - you can google BSL2 lab to get more information. It will go from a 6 story building to a 10 story building. Also found out that in that facility there will be a 2,000 square foot room that will contain chemicals such as radio active isotopes, flammable and dangerous. There are thousands of residents in my area plus the mall patrons and restaurants and hotels. The town has been very sneaky about it saying R&D but it is BSL2 lab. Also not many people know anything. Bulfinch, the developers, are also not transparent in their plans (they were turned down in 2015 in Newton so now they are quietly trying to do this in Natick in the most populated area of the town.). It is difficult but not impossible to go from BSL2 to BSL3 or BSL4 and those labs are deadly. We have many doctor residents that work in BSL2 abs and they are opposing this as well.
Some of us are fighting this. The town meeting in Natick is a zoom on Wednesday May 11 at 7 pm. We need a lot of people to attend and voice concerns and ask the town difficult questions.”
